Stargate Atlantis Season 5 Opening Credits

The official release of Stargate Atlantis is only for July 11, 2008 in the USA. But on June 20, (so three weeks before the official air date) a version of the first episode of GSA 5 - titled "Search and Rescue (Part 2) - became available over the internet from pirate websites..

Tech savvy Stargate fans have rushed to watch this leaked episode. Well they were impatient, can understand them. But in here we don't encourage such behaviors of course. Nonetheless because the opening credits of Stargate Atlantis 5 are now more than public on youtube let's have a look:

You have probably noticed: Amanda Tapping (Colonel Samantha Carter) is not in the opening as she has left the regular cast. But Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey) is now a permanent character as Woolsey assumes command of Atlantis. Actress Jewel Staite (Dr. Jennifer Keller) has also been promoted top the rank of permanent cast member.

Glad to know that Stargate Atlantis will be back soon with Season 5!

Stargate Atlantis Season 5 in Summer 2008

The last fourth season of Stargate Atlantis has been explosive, with a lot of revelations and new developments. But the story hasn't depleted its full potential yet. Fortunately the SciFi Channel announced that Stargate Atlantis has been renewed for a fifth season.

The new Stargate Atlantis season began production in February, 2008 and is scheduled to air in Summer 2008, probably in late July or early August, 2008.

Some details compiled by Wikipedia about Stargate Atlantis Season 5 so far:

Actors Joe Flanigan, Rachel Luttrell, Jason Momoa and David Hewlett have been confirmed to be returning for the fifth season, reprising their roles as Lt. Col. John Sheppard, Teyla Emmagan, Ronon Dex and Dr. Rodney McKay respectively.

Amanda Tapping (Col. Samantha Carter) will not be a regular cast member in Season 5, but will return as a special guest star for several episodes.

Actress Jewel Staite (Dr. Jennifer Keller) will be returning and has been promoted to series regular.

The season will feature two new characters, Captain Alicia Vega (Leela Savasta) and Alison Porter (Nicole de Boer).
Captain Alicia Vega, who will be a new member of the Atlantis expedition's military contingent, will be introduced in the season opener "Search and Rescue" and will be a member of an all-woman recon team by the episode "Whispers".
Alison Porter will be introduced in the episode "Whispers".

Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey) will join the show as a regular cast member and become the new commander of the Atlantis Expedition. He will appear in 14 of the 20 episodes for the new season.

The season will also see Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett) return for five episodes and Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) appear in at least two episodes.

Despite earlier plans, Torri Higginson (Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Stargate)) will not be returning for the fifth season. According to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, the actress has turned down an offer to guest star in the fifth season.

During the course of the season a new race will be introduced and the show will celebrate the milestone of 100 episodes.

It's with a real pleasure that I will watch the fifth season of Stargate Atlantis!
